What is nutrition therapy?
Nutrition therapy is an evidence based, bio-individual therapy that uses a food first approach, supplements if/when needed and or herb recommendations as well as lifestyle adjustments to aid in improving your health. We also educate and empower people so they may make the best dietary decisions for themselves in future. General nutrition advice is not geared to help you as an individual and doesn’t necessarily cater to your specific health concerns.
What qualifications do you have as a nutrition therapist?
I have been in the holistic space for over 10 years and currently hold a certificate that qualifies me to practice as a Nutrition Therapy Practitioner TM.
How do I know if I need a nutrition therapist?
Nutrition therapy practitioner’s TM. Can help you in assessing what you need nutritionally by addressing certain deficiencies, if you find it difficult to shift weight, when one is looking to support a concern nutritionally and you are not sure where to start, if you are looking to know about food and what foods affect you negatively or positively. We also help if you would like to improve the nutritional content of what your family needs and need tips on how to do that these are some examples of why you would need a nutrition therapist.
What can I expect during my first consultation?
Your first call will be a 60 minute zoom call after you have filled out a Food and Mood journal, Initial consultation and the NAQ. In the call we will be going through some observations from your paperwork. I will be asking questions to get some clarification on a few of your answers as well as finding out more about you in terms of your lifestyle, stress levels, time constraints…. etc. This information helps so that your recommendations can be customized to you.
Do you create personalized meal plans?
Meal plans can be made for a fee. They do not come automatically with any of the memberships. As we go through the program with you our goal is to educate you on what foods are best for you. This is so you are empowered to make positive choices for yourself when it comes to grocery shopping, eating out and any other activity that may involve food.
Is there support available between sessions?
Yes we do support via emails and an SMS service. You can also book and purchase a quick call if you feel you need a longer answer to any food related questions.
How do you handle food allergies or dietary restrictions?
It depends… The severity of an allergy may require eliminating the food for a short period of time or altogether or reducing the frequency of consumption of the offending food or supplementation of nutrients or enzymes that will help you process the food better.
Can nutrition therapy help with conditions like diabetes, heart disease, or digestive issues?
While we do not treat or diagnose people we can support through food. Through our foundations we can help with blood sugar regulation, mineral balancing, hydration, digestion and fatty acid balancing.
How often will we meet?
How often we meet will depend on the package you select. But generally it is biweekly (every other week), extra calls can be purchased for a small fee if one feels like they need more information.
